I began my karate journey at Camp Kokoro in the summer of 2012. Since then, I have progressed through the ranks, finally earning my Junior Black Belt In October of 2017. I have loved every minute of it. Thousand Waves has helped my grow so much as a person, so I have been working to give back to the community that has given me so much. I assist teaching in the junior program, I attend all events (tests, Soji, etc.) that I can, and I give my time and effort to support the dojo.
Not only has Thousand Waves helped me, but the outreach programs it runs in communities affected by violence help hundreds of people across Chicago every year. Thousand Waves' scholarship program supports people who wish to train but can't afford the tuition. The ASK (Adapted Seido Karate) program lets young people with physical and mental disabilities learn karate.
Thousand Waves is a beautiful school that provides a home base for an amazing group of people. They have given me and many others throughout Chicago so much. Please help me and the Thousand Waves community and donate to our dojo.
