Hello friends and family! It’s Spirit Challenge time of year again! I hope you’ll consider donating to this wonderful organization that’s been supporting me for 14 years and counting.
Your financial support of this dojo (which is tax-deductible as 501(c)3 non-profit) goes towards supporting three programs:
- Thousand Waves' scholarship program that allows people to train regardless of their ability to pay. This program is instrumental in bringing access to Seido Karate to any who want it
- Outreach violence prevention: Thousand Waves teaches workshops and seminars across the city to give people the tools they need to set boundaries and keep themselves safe. Proactive violence prevention keeps members safe not just with fighting skills, but by teaching people to avoid fights all together
- Our Adapted Seido Karate program, a partnership with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, that allows children with disabilities to train in karate for free
Any amount, no matter the size, helps Thousand Waves keep its doors open. My years as a young person in this community have taught me the importance of discipline and leadership in commitment to bettering ourselves and our community.
