This dojo has shaped my life in ways I can no longer describe. Having trained for most of my life and now teaching, I want to give back to this supportive, loving, and open community. Thousand Waves is a non-profit, so to keep the doors open and our adapted and scholarship programs running we, as a community, fundraise. The adapted and scholarship programs ensure that people of all ages, races, genders, economic statuses, and physical and mental abilities can train and learn with people like and unlike themselves. As I strive towards my next goal of Nidan or second-degree black belt, I would love to give back to the place and the people who have seen me grow and learn throughout my life.
